LEAF supports campaigns with which we feel a connection and solidarity with, and to those which will most greatly affected our lives.
Stop the Cuts
LEAF supports Stop the Cuts. The Australian University and TAFE sectors are under attack.
La Trobe University recently announced the largest restructure in the universities history; these cutes threaten regional and rural arts, humanities and social sciences.
Stop the Cuts Collective aims to enact opposition to the restructuring and provide a 'fair go' for education.

The Kimberley
LEAF supports the Goolarabaloo and the Broome community in their opposition to the onsite gas processing facility proposed by Woodside and the W.A government. Over the last five years La Trobe students have travelled to Broome to walk the Lurrujarri hertiage trail with the
Goolarabalooo Native Title Group; this gives students a priveliged position to understand the local politics, cultural significant and natural heritage of James Price Point (Walmadan).
LEAF has fund raised for the the campaign and continues to operate in solidarity with the Goolarabalo.

Toolangi
LEAF stands in solidarity with CHAG (Central Highlands Action Group). LEAF believes that the logging of the forests of Toolangi is no longer sustainable and supports the community who are attempting to stop the destruction of there local forest reserves.
After the resent Black Saturday Fires there is little forest left to provide habitat to threatened and endangered species such as Victoria floral emblem the Leadbeaters possum.
LEAF understands the value of native forests and will work to help protect what is left for future generations.

REFLEX
Producing Reflex paper from native forests impacts our climate, water and wildlife.
The production of woodchips for pulp and paper is the largest driver of forest destruction in Australia and Australian Paper, maker of Reflex, is the largest domestic purchaser of pulplogs from Victoria's native forests.
Viable alternatives exist. Australia currently has a vast amount of plantation wood available so there is no excuse for Reflex to be produced from the destruction of our native forests.
Logging native forests damages crucial wildlife habitat, damages water catchments and releases huge amounts of carbon into the atmosphere - globally, 'logging and land-use changes' account for approx 20% of all greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, most forestry jobs are in the plantation sector but state governments use our taxpayer dollars to sell native forests at artificially low prices, undermining the plantation sector and putting plantation jobs at risk.
